Identifying Running Deviations in Long Distance Runners Utilizing Gait Profile Analysis: A Case Control Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objective: The goal of this study was to utilize Gait Profile Score (GPS) and Deviation Index (GDI), assess its capability differentiating between injured non-injured runners. Design: In total, 45 long-distance runners (15 non-injured, 30 injured), diagnosed with one the following running related injuries, patella femoral pain syndrome, iliotibial medial tibial stress were recruited. Methods: Data obtained from a analysis gait laboratory equipped eight infrared motion-capturing cameras conventional treadmill. Running kinematics recorded according Plug-In model, measuring deviations pelvis lower extremities at sampling rate 200 Hz. GPS GDI calculated integrating limb kinematics. Movement Analysis results compared non-parametric two-sample Wilcoxson test determined whether significant kinematic differences observed. Results: Total score significantly differed Not all expressed by groups. Conclusions: capable discriminating runners’ This new assessment method makes it possible identify injuries using single numerical value evaluate movements in individual joints.

Firm insoles effectively reduce hemolysis in runners during long distance running - a comparative study
BACKGROUND Shock absorbing insoles are effective in reducing the magnitude and rate of loading of peak impact forces generated at foot strike during running, whereas the foot impact force during running has been considered to be an important cause of intravascular hemolysis in long distance runners. Objective of this study was to evaluate the intravascular hemolysis during running and compare t...
متن کاملInfluence of gait manipulation on running economy in female distance runners.
The aim of this investigation was to determine if gait manipulation influences running economy. Following 30 minutes of accommodation to level treadmill running at 3.35 m·s(-1) and determination of VO2peak, nine female distance runners (age = 23.3 ± 4.2 years; body mass = 57.5 ± 5.2 kg; height = 1.64 ± 0.10 m; body fat = 11.4 ± 2.4 %; VO2peak = 54.9 ± 4.1 ml·kg(-1)·min(-1)) completed two treadm...
متن کاملCASE REPORT Abdominal pain in long distance runners: case report and analysis of the literature
Abdominal pain is a common complaint among participants in endurance sports. It may be severe, recurrent, and resistant to treatment. There is no direct evidence of the cause of this phenomenon. This report is of a long distance runner who had severe pain in the upper right abdominal quadrant during strenuous exertion. The symptom had been present for several years and did not respond to conser...
متن کاملDeviations in gait metrics in patients with chronic ankle instability: a case control study
BACKGROUND Gait metric alterations have been previously reported in patients suffering from chronic ankle instability (CAI). Previous studies of gait in this population have been comprised of relatively small cohorts, and the findings of these studies are not uniform. The objective of the present study was to examine spatiotemporal gait metrics in patients with CAI and examine the relationship ...
متن کاملIncidence and determinants of lower extremity running injuries in long distance runners: a systematic review.
The purpose of this study was to present a systematic overview of published reports on the incidence and associated potential risk factors of lower extremity running injuries in long distance runners. An electronic database search was conducted using the PubMed-Medline database. Two observers independently assessed the quality of the studies and a best evidence synthesis was used to summarise t...
